A girl can’t dream anymore.
How many young girls dream to be a princess?
To be swept off her feet by a ginger prince charming?
Only to discover as Meghan Markle has…
Not All It’s Cracked Up To Be
I’d say she’s looked pretty unhappy since she woke from the first kiss.
No surprise; his Mum was too.
Like Cinderella, there’s lots of baggage that comes with putting on that slipper.
Today not even a princess can fly private without the social justice warriors slaying you.
Your royal family out-PC’ing you flying discount coach.
No princess dreams of flying in the back of the bus, do they?
Sadly it seems, not even reaching the peak of human society is all it’s cracked up to be.
How Many Peaks Are?
How many of us reach a peak to discover it’s not all we imagined it to be?
We achieve a massive goal, reach our greatest heights…
To step back and wonder, is this it?
Is this how it’s meant to feel?
Before chasing the dragon setting our sights on that next goal we need to feel?
The bigger question I wonder is, how many of us don’t feel this way??
Or is it basically everyone on the planet?
Yes, of course we paste smiles and lie our teeth off on such topics but…
Even those who left the planet felt this way.
Depressing Touchdown
Have you heard the stories of the depressed astronauts?
They train their entire lives to do something extraordinary.
To arrive back home depressed.
Not even going to the moon does one ascend to great heights.
And it’s not just them of course, is it?
Michael Phelps dripping in more gold than a rapper went deep into the blaaaaaah.
Wanting to die blaaaaaah.
Now he promotes therapy…
Where tons of other people go every week to stay swimming in the blaaaaaah.
Awfully Mean Reversion
See, the source of this problem for us humans isn’t just life on or off this planet.
It’s that we’re all infected with the human condition.
And nobody ever teaches us how to feel good.
So we keep chasing and chasing, swimming faster, flying higher hoping to feel it.
Yet even when the most magical things happen in our lives…
Our brains simply revert back to the average of how we’ve always felt—called your happiness set-point.
This is why no matter how much success we have.
Or booze, drugs, other escapes we seek out.
Unless we actually train ourselves to feel higher…
Well, more or less, this is as good as our lives will ever feel.
While this truth few of us humans want to hear, perhaps there is nothing more freeing than knowing…
Nothing Makes Us Happy
Not winning gold medals.
Not going to the moon.
Not reaching the peak of your life.
Not being a princess.
The only thing that makes us happy is…
Us.
When we see beyond the illusion and learn to use our bodies and minds to feel amazing at will.
