Chasing around a laser light thinking it’s real.
Shine it on the floor they paw after it like a mouse.
Put it on the wall, they climb up.
Are They Confused?
Maybe they know it’s a game?
An illusion projected from a device?
Perhaps they play anyways because it’s fun?
They are of course just cats, easily confused by what is real.
Yet are they really much different to kids playing made up games?
No care what is real or make believe, just running around having fun.
What happens to us adults?
Have We Forgotten The Play?
I feel I should avoid going deep here.
To say real-ity is an illusion.
Just a light shining through a human machine.
Yet even on a shallow level us adults have mostly forgotten the play.
Taking all this oh so seriously, pawing after “real” things to really change how we feel.
We think…
When I get that house or job or lover or 3 drinks in me, now I’ll be having more fun.
Although our greatest human knowledge tells us that’s the illusion…
We’ve never been taught to really live our dream.
“You’ve Been Living In A Dream World, Neo”
Mockingly, Morpheus says to Neo in The Matrix.
Yes, of course it’s just fiction and we aren’t right now living in a dream.
How could we be?
You can see. Hear. Feel. Touch. Taste. Smell those things around you.
Must be real.
Yet of course we all know that in bed last night those dreams seem oh so real too, don’t they!!
An Oh-So-Serious Dream
If we were asleep in a day dream right now, how would we know?
Your night dream seems real until you wake, doesn’t it?
How don’t we know the illusion of our days is the same?
That going to sleep is waking from the dream?
An escape from our oh so serious real nightmarish adult world.
Real or illusion, why not choose to really live your dream?
Why Should Cats Have All The Fun?
Like kids running around playing…
Chasing the light cats don’t seem to care what is real to be having fun.
How can us adults do the same?
Rather than chasing around these real or not real things we take oh so seriously…
How might you this holiday weekend be having so much more fun?
