Indeed Covid threw a spanner in the works, didn’t it!?
What the heck will this year look like?
Are we opening up for good?
For a little while?
What will happen in the economy?
In your business or career?
What you do know is…
Whatever you make of this year doesn’t come back to the economy.
Or your industry.
Or your business.
Of course none of these things you control.
But what you do control is the attitude you bring to winning this year.
What is this winning attitude?
And how do you get here from where you are now?
Well, where are you now?
In this beautiful chart above you see a mental progression.
What I’m trying to depict is that a winning mindset doesn’t require making massive leaps all at once.
See you might start from a losing mindset thinking you can’t achieve what you want this year.
You might already have been in this mindset, and that’s OK.
To keep making the most of your year doesn’t require getting yourself into some type of hells yeah, chewing through steel attitude.
Merely one more step along
If you can just get yourself from that place to asking, OK, how?
Well, now you’re already opening the doors to what you must do to keep making the year what you dream.
This alone might be enough to keep you stomping forward.
And as you do, you might feel yourself quickly progressing to a mindset of believing that you can.
You might already be here.
Or perhaps you’ve progressed further along to just doing it. (which in my messy handwriting looks like “done,” but I’m saying “doing”)
From here you’re done
See, what I mean is that you still might not achieve what you want this year.
But, here’s the real point of this chart.
And, arguably, the entire point of having goals to begin with.
Just living inside this mindset, believing that you can, just doing your best every day…
Well, you’re doing everything you can to reach being done.
And what does this feel like?
To be done, I mean
The point I’m making here is, notice the difference in feeling ‘I can’ and ‘I’m Done.’
Really, load up this feeling in your brain and body for a moment.
Ask yourself—How do you feel having crushed this year?
And I mean REALLY.
Not like oh yeah it feels pretty good.
I mean like REALLY getting to the end of the year having absolutely crushed it.
Again, if you’re at the start of the chart you might not believe you can, but how does it feel that you did?
How do you see yourself this way at the end of this year?
REALLY, how does this feel?
And even though you’re not yet here, just imagine you can feel this way every day.
So, instead of just taking steps forward thinking ‘I can,’ you can be feeling ‘I’m done’ while you’re taking steps forward.
Not just a trick of the brain
A trick of top performance.
Because when you feel like you’re done, and you’re living in this feeling, well, how much more confident are you?
Coz you’re not trying to do this to feel that.
You already feel that while you’re doing this, putting your best foot forward.
So no matter where the year is headed or where you end up…
Today and every day you’re just feeling awesome taking your best steps forward.
That’s the game.
And crushing this year the best you can.
