Goals can be hard to achieve, right?
But if you’re like me, you know sometimes they can be just as hard to set!
As we bang on deeper in this video for Upgrade YOU, setting goals for yourself…
Let’s hit 6 subtle problems you see with goals.
1. Don’t know what you want
I spent 10 years on this topic…
Reading thousands of books looking for an answer, thinking you need to know what you want to get it.
That’s the dirty secret I wrote about here.
And the method we work through in this video.
How you set massive goals, even if you don’t know what you want!
2. You avoid setting goals
Because we’re mostly taught basic (wrong) methods of setting goals for yourself, they often cause more pain than good.
Fear. Overwhelm. Pressure. Worry.
So you avoid having goals.
Having nothing to aim for, you fall short.
3. You aim too low
If you set small / realistic goals you avoid being disappointed by failure.
But you also give yourself too little to strive for.
You unleash only a tiny fraction of your potential.
Hence, if you achieve small goals you still fall short.
As John Masefield put it, “Success is the brand on the brow of the man who has aimed too low.”
4. Shooting for the moon with no method
A friend talks about moonshot thinking.
As a business builder she’s excellent at creating a vision, but also a method.
If you’re dreaming massive, you need the process and outcome goals that you systematically work to get here.
As Norman Vincent Peale said, “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”
Yet only with a winning method for launching you here!
5. Too rarely setting the bar higher
You might know I puke on New Year’s resolutions.
If you’re waiting till the start of the year to be setting goals for yourself, they hardly matter.
So too if you’re not revisiting these goals again till next year.
The purpose of goals is reaching your full potential.
You best do this by continuously setting the bar higher and higher.
6. Goals are about now
Goals aren’t about that thing you might perhaps one day get in the future.
They’re about how you’re using that thing you might perhaps one day get in the future right now, today.
Getting clear on your goals to ignite your mind and drive your actions, NOW!
The solution to these problems…
A sophisticated, powerful, yet simple method for setting goals for yourself.
Keep upgrading YOU, my friend!
