It’s Thanksgiving in America.
So naturally… let’s dive into this deep topic of the mind.
This is a deep topic I stopped writing about to focus on mastering and now I’ll keep writing more.
Because it’s most important in your life, it’s made out to be complicated, when it’s this simple.
Just so hard to do.
Even being thankful.
Why?
Why is this hard to do?
Why does it even matter to do?
Why is mastering how you think and feel most important for you?
Best mind, best life. The quality of your mind is the quality of your life. Every thought, every feeling, every action is your life right now and your life in all future nows. Best energy. Best performing. Best results. Best happiness… Best life.
Why wouldn’t you want to master how you think and feel?
How?
See, this is the hardest thing right here.
Think about this for a moment: You have a body. You have a brain.
You’re experiencing feelings in your body and thoughts in your brain. Where’s all this coming from?
How do these thoughts and feelings get here to begin with? Are you choosing them? Or isn’t it more like they are happening in you?
Like your heart is pumping blood some 100,000 times a day your body is feeling and your brain is thinking some 80,000 times.
How good?
How good would you say you are thinking and feeling?
On a scale of 1-10, where do you score yourself?
Now, think about why this matters for you?
Do you feel you have the energy you want and need? Are you thinking your best? Feeling your best? Taking your best actions?
Perhaps you’re already 10 out of 10? Or all good where you’re at? Or would you like to think and feel better?
“1 thing”
The buddy I hadn’t seen for years asked me the other week, “What’s one thing you know now you wish you knew back then?”
Quite surprised by my own automatic response I pointed straight to my head and said, “This inner voice.”
Here I’ll avoid dropping deep down this rabbit hole I wrote about recently and deeply years ago here.
And just point out this all comes back to what you are experiencing inside you.
That voice in your head. The pictures. Movies.
80,000
That brain of yours is on average having some 80,000 thoughts a day with its negativity bias some 70-90% negative and redundant.
This is happening in your brain all day every day and why thinking and feeling your best can be so “not easy” to do.
“Think positive,” they say. All the time you hear platitudes like, “You choose your thoughts.”
But if this is true, why wouldn’t we all just choose “happy?”
Because those thoughts are chosen for you.
Automaticity
Automaticity is the secret unlock to your brain you’re never taught.
If you want to get down and dirty automaticity is the gift and curse of being human.
Automaticity makes it easy for you to get through the world never needing to learn every day how to tie your shoes or open a door.
Same way automaticity in the form of habits almost entirely controls us humans. You brush your teeth in the same order of operation same as you can get stuck in old habitual ways of thinking and feeling.
Still, it’s true, you choose your thoughts!
Will and skill
It is fact, you choose your thoughts.
You know this because in conversations you’re there with all those thoughts flooding your brain and you as a conscious person are editing those thoughts sorting through words you will say.
In this way you’re almost always editing your thoughts from a “raw feed” which is coming from where?
This is a deepest rabbit hole of source alchemy transforming the negativity bias of the brain.
In the simplest sense it’s your will and skill to choose your thoughts, like being thankful.
Layer 1 Fillers
I’ve built tons of human tech over the decades and this is one device I always come back to.
Because you see on the chart at the top of this page how simple these reminders are for you.
That’s the point, they are simple, because in the chaos of that brain having some 80,000 mostly negative thoughts a day, it can be hard to do.
So you see this chart is designed to make it simple for you with these different ways for filling yourself up, meaning to be “full-filled” right now.
This is your most simple reminder no matter what is happening in your life you can keep finding ways to feel full, and in our case here, thank-full.
Thank-Full
This is how you use the Layer 1 Fillers.
You see? Coz it is the most simple thing in the world, just, again, not easy to do.
It’s like being grateful. You know it’s better to be grateful, don’t you? Life is better this way, isn’t it? We all know this, just how many seconds a day are you grateful?? Not easy to do, is it?
How about being thankful? Again, you know you feel better when you’re being thankful, don’t you? So, why limit thanksgiving to just one day when you can keep training being thank-full all year?
It’s not easy because of the negativity bias of the brain but the secret to being thank-full is practice which makes you more and more automatically thank-full too.
