A client is making leaps.
But he’s got a loooooong way to go.
He’s on a world-changing mission that has legs because so much is possible with technology.
Just he’s got a hard leap to make.
Here’s 5 things we’re doing.
Why?
The thing with making leaps in business and life is you’ve reaaalllly gotta want it.
Because it’s not just about where you’re leaping but making leaps in your performance.
You must know why this matters to you because making a leap is hard and you’ll back down.
When you’re feeling the strain you’ll find it easier to hang back or look for reasons to slow.
Or you push yourself to a comfortable limit vs. where a drill sergeant would get you.
You?
Do you know what I mean here?
Is this something you are focused on?
Where your goal is so hard you’re forced to keep hitting new levels of performance?
I know this stuff well because it’s how I’ve played for so long and why I’m so deep into personal development.
Like my client I must keep hitting new levels to keep leaping, how about you?
Keep dreaming
This is the next thing we’re focused on.
As my client keeps saying, “Keep the dream alive.”
I live for moonshots, dreams, visions, targets that can be near impossible to see, let alone achieve.
This is my obsession because I’ve lived this way my entire life leaping from factories to Wall Street to beyond.
And what I’ve most seen is especially when it’s hard, certainly when it feels near impossible, you must keep dreaming.
Keep scheming
You know the Mike Tyson quote that everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face?
Well, nearly every business and life gets punched in the face of reality.
When I was on Wall Street lots of people would say, “If only I had the idea.”
But what you see from dreamers is you must keep scheming idea after idea until you find a way.
There’s nothing easy about shooting for stars but everything is possible when you keep dreaming and scheming.
Keep moving
A rolling stone gathers no moss, you know this phrase.
You also know how hard it can be to get yourself rolling.
This is hard for many dreamers and schemers because if it was obvious what to do then it wouldn’t be hard!
All the time people talk about doing hard things and the hardest things are those you don’t know how to do or want to do or can’t get yourself doing.
Especially when you’re getting rolling building momentum you must keep moving.
Keep improving
Keep dreaming. Keep scheming.
Keep moving by “chunking down” your grandest vision into tiniest steps you build momentum taking.
I’ve worked with clients whose career or life was so hard and brain was so beaten their tiniest step was just the next 30 minutes and if that’s all you can muster that’s all you can do.
Every tiny step you take keeps you moving and improving.
Keep moving, keep improving, keep leaping.
Keep leaping
The difference between tiny steps and leaping is you.
There is a version of you who sees it’s just tiny steps and another seeing you’re leaping.
It’s like Jeff Bezos leaving a top Wall Street career to build a bookstore and then the Everything Store.
If he was just thinking in tiny steps he might have stopped at the bookstore but thinking in leaps he leapt all the way.
Everything is possible when you keep leaping.
