It was the worst advice.
When someone is in a bad place last thing they want to hear is “Keep having fun.”
But it’s also a most important thing you can share with someone.
Like one of my teachers said.
A place with no problems?
Where?
He says there’s one place in the world where nobody has any problems.
Everyone is just there time passing by.
Never a care in the world.
Nothing to worry about.
Where?
Not there
I had this tough client couple years back.
His brain was in a terrible place because something happened in his life.
He hadn’t known how to solve it which had driven him crazy in the mind.
Years in therapy, even couple stints in a mental hospital before we met.
“It’s not what happened to you,” I said, “But what your mind made of it.”
Your mind
When things go wrong in your life.
Or for whatever reason you’re going through hard times your brain can make it worse creating mountains out of molehills.
Even when things are real difficult to work through as it was for him only his brain had turned it into end of the world.
That made it much harder because now he recruited his entire brain into that mess of a problem.
“You stop seeing good things in your life, lose perspective for your life,” he said.
Or find it
That’s why he was so enticed by this one place in the world my teacher talks about where people never have any problems.
Never need to solve hard things.
Forever you can be worry free.
Nothing ever possibly wrong.
“Where?” he eagerly asked.
“Cemetery”
Hahahahahaha, that’s my teacher’s joke and he wasn’t kidding.
Because obviously once you’re in the cemetery you’ve got zero worries in the world.
My client shook his head and laughed at the same time because he could see the truth.
Every day animals in the wild wake up with one job to survive.
Almost never human problems are as tough as survive.
Keep having fun
So much of this life can drive you crazy if you let it.
This is why it’s so crucial to be in control of your mind.
Because once you accept in life OK sure lots of problems come your way and then you die, well, now you’re free to live.
These problems, these hard things, it’s not only if they don’t kill you make you stronger, it’s living.
He says, “You can let hard things ruin your life or look for ways to keep having fun.”
